British fisherman dies from snake bite in Australia in first sea snake death in history

A British national was fatally bitten by a sea snake as he pulled up 
a net on a fishing trawler

The 23-year-old, who was working aboard a vessel about 70 nautical miles south of Groote Eyland, was bitten as he pulled up a net at around 12am on Thursday.
Medical emergency crews were called on the scene with medical supplies and assistance but the man died before they could reach him.
He died on the mainland in Borroloola where Northern Territory Police said a post-mortem examination would be conducted.
Craig Garraway, from St John’s Ambulance, told ABC News: "A trawler off Groote Eylandt had reported that one of their male crewmen had been bitten by a sea snake.
